| The
WD7STR repeater is located on Gold Mountain, approximately 10 miles
S.W. of Bremerton, at about 1750 feet. Installation of the
repeater came as a "target of opportunity" after the
installation of a remote receiver link for an existing analog FM
repeater system.
The receive antenna is a Phelps
Dodge Super Stationmaster installed for the analog link at the
160-foot level of the tower shown on the home page. It is second
from the top on the right in the photograph and is one of the highest
on the mountain. The D-Star repeater receiver is also fed from
this antenna.
The D-Star transmit
antenna (right) is a modest 6 dB omni located on an adjacent tower at about 40
feet. Although considerably lower than the receive antenna, it
still has an unobstructed view of most of the Puget Sound area.
Testing will tell if increased transmit power or an improved transmit
antenna will be necessary to take full advantage of this 'split' site.
The repeater hardware
consists of the standard ICOM RP2C controller and RP4000V UHF repeater
module. |
